Our campus encourages you to do amazing things.

Everywhere you look at IU, you’ll see ways our campus inspires you to greatness. High-tech classrooms, libraries, and laboratories where you can explore—and expand—the limits of knowledge. World-class performance spaces and galleries where you can display your talents. Even great recreational sports facilities, where your mind can work on brilliant ideas while your body works out.

Between all of these facilities is a seemingly never-ending garden of trees and green spaces, perfect for studying, relaxing, and planning which amazing thing you’ll do next.

Sustainable living (and learning)

IU students play a big role in keeping our campus—and Bloomington—green. The IU Energy Challenge is a perfect example: Residence halls, greek houses, and academic buildings compete to save energy and water. Since 2008, the Energy Challenge has saved more than 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and more than 6 million gallons of water.

IU’s focus on sustainability includes:

• Events like Renew Fest, No Waste Week, and Electronic Waste Collection Days
• Planting trees throughout campus and a garden at the president’s house
• Sustainability internships through the IU Office of Sustainability
• Student groups such as Volunteers in Sustainability and Greeks Go Green
• Recognition as one of the first Bicycle Friendly Universities by the League of American Bicyclists
• A variety of sustainability-related courses, including many through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs
